The WHO declared an Ebola emergency as the outbreak spreads through the DRC and neighboring countries. The CDC announced new travel restrictions on Monday, including screening Americans arriving from the DRC, Uganda, and South Sudan, while barring non-US passport holders who've visited those nations in the past 21 days.

Dr. Peter Stafford, a missionary doctor with Serge, tested positive for Ebola after exposure at Nyankunde Hospital in Bunia. The CDC is arranging evacuation for him and six others to Germany. His wife and another doctor had exposures but remain asymptomatic.

Ebola causes severe hemorrhagic fever, with symptoms appearing two to 21 days after exposure. The CDC says the risk to the general American public remains low.
