Dua Lipa filed a lawsuit against Samsung for using her image on TV packaging without permission. The singer alleges the tech giant committed copyright infringement, trademark infringement, and violated her right of publicity by featuring her photo on television boxes. Lipa owns the specific rights to the image titled "Dua Lipa – Backstage at Austin City Limits, 2024" that appeared on Samsung products.

Samsung mass-produced and distributed televisions across the United States with Lipa's image on the packaging. According to the lawsuit filed in US District Court for the Central District of California, Lipa discovered the unauthorized use around June 2025 and immediately demanded Samsung cease and desist. The complaint states Samsung was "dismissive and callous" in its response.

The lawsuit argues Samsung's actions "makes a mockery of her hard work in establishing a successful brand" by using her assets "for zero consideration." Despite being aware of the infringement, Samsung continued selling the televisions with Lipa's image in the US market. Lipa seeks compensation for the unauthorized use and an injunction against further distribution of the infringing packaging.
