Coyote vs. Acme Trailer Drops After Warner Bros. Shelving

After Warner Bros. shelved the live-action/animated film Coyote vs. Acme in 2023, Ketchup Entertainment has released the first trailer for the long-delayed project. The film stars Will Forte as Wile E. Coyote, who sues ACME Corporation after decades of failed gadgets. Based on Ian Frazier's 1990 New Yorker satire, the movie features a script co-written by James Gunn and boasts a star-studded cast.

Warner Bros.' decision to cancel the film for a tax write-off sparked widespread outrage, especially after the studio released Barbie in its original July 2023 slot. The studio also shelved Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt that year. Despite bids from Netflix, Amazon, and Paramount, Warner Bros. initially rejected offers that didn't meet their $75-80 million asking price. Forte later admitted he assumed the film was terrible until he saw the final cut and called it "incredible."

The studio eventually sold the rights to Ketchup Entertainment for $50 million—less than their original asking price. The trailer's release suggests the film might have been worth the wait, with its clever premise and impressive talent. After months of controversy and uncertainty, Coyote vs. Acme is finally getting its chance to reach audiences.
