Windows 11 Gets Lock Screen Battery Widget

Microsoft is developing a battery status widget for Windows 11, first discovered in recent preview builds. The widget will display the PC's battery level and connected wireless accessories, such as Bluetooth mice, keyboards, and headphones, on both the Widgets Board and lock screen. Assets show light and dark theme variants.

The feature lists each device with its name, percentage, and charging status. It also indicates if Energy Saver mode is enabled. This addition aims to give the Widgets Board a practical purpose, which has been limited since its 2021 launch.

Currently, only apps like Phone Link, OneDrive, and Weather utilize the space effectively. While Android and iOS have offered similar overviews for years, this would bring the functionality to the Windows ecosystem. As the feature is not yet functional, there is no release date or confirmation on whether the lock screen and Widgets Board versions will launch simultaneously.
