Kyle Larson ended a 51-race winless streak Sunday, edging Hendrick Motorsports teammate Alex Bowman in overtime at World Wide Technology Raceway. The defending champion took his No. 5 Chevrolet to Victory Lane for the first time since May 2025 at Kansas Speedway after defending the lead on three restarts in the final two laps of regulation and seven laps of overtime.

The crash-filled race featured a season-high 18 cautions and dramatic brake failures. Joey Logano won the pole and led a race-high 96 laps but finished third, adding 19 stage points. Larson benefited from his crew's decision to put four tires on during a late pit stop while Logano took two.

Larson racked up 73 points to jump from seventh to second in the Chase standings, nine behind Denny Hamlin. Christopher Bell is third, another nine points back. Several Chase contenders were eliminated in late crashes, including Chase Elliott and Chase Briscoe, who collided on Lap 213 after Elliott suffered a brake rotor explosion. Bubba Wallace, Josh Berry, Tyler Reddick, Ty Gibbs, and Daniel Suarez were also caught in incidents.

"It takes a lot more than just having the fastest car to win a Cup Series race," said Larson, acknowledging Logano had the best car. Hamlin maintained his points lead despite a ninth-place finish, saying, "We were strong last week, and this week we were not strong, and still, we maintained the lead."
