Apple users updating to iOS 27 are encountering a bug that can temporarily freeze their iPhone during normal use. The issue, first reported by 9to5Mac, occurs when users swipe down both the Notification Center and Control Center in quick succession, causing buttons and icons to become stuck at the top of the screen and rendering the device unresponsive to touch input.

While the bug can be alarming, Apple has confirmed it does not cause permanent damage to the device. The recommended solution is a force restart, which clears the RAM and closes any problematic apps. To perform a force restart on a frozen iPhone, press and quickly release the volume up button, then do the same with the volume down button. Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears, which may take more than 10 seconds.

The bug appears to be isolated to devices running iOS 27, and Apple is expected to release a software update to address the issue. Until then, users are advised to avoid rapidly opening both Control Center and Notification Center at the same time and to keep the force restart instructions handy for troubleshooting.
