Apple's iOS 27 includes a bug that can make your iPhone temporarily unresponsive, but only if you go out of your way to trigger it.

While the iOS 27 update refined Apple's Liquid Glass aesthetic, the software also brought an apparent user interface bug. Quickly toggling between Control Center and Notification Center can seemingly make devices unresponsive.

The bug needs to be triggered deliberately by quickly opening Notification Center, then immediately activating Control Center. Unless you're testing animations, there's no point in repeatedly switching between the two UI elements. Still, social media users complain this can "brick" an iPhone, claiming it disables scrolling physics, breaks notifications, or prevents swiping between Home Screen pages.

AppleInsider tried to trigger the bug, and while it stopped Notification Center from opening, it did not make the device unresponsive. According to a Reddit post, the bug was present in iOS 27 beta builds, including the Release Candidate. Apple hasn't fixed it in the public release.

If you encounter this glitch, force-reboot your device: press and release Volume Up, press and release Volume Down, then hold the side button until the Apple logo appears. You may encounter the bug again until Apple issues a software update.
