How to Cancel Whoop Membership: Steps & Alternatives

Whoop bands require an active membership starting at $149 annually for the Whoop One tier to access recovery insights, sleep tracking, and VO2 max metrics. Unlike the Oura Ring, the device is virtually useless without a subscription. To cancel, visit app.whoop.com, navigate to the Membership tab in your account dashboard, and select "Cancel Your Membership." Options vary by plan: monthly subscribers with a 12-month commitment can pay off the remainder or schedule cancellation at the year mark; commitment-free monthly plans can cancel before the next billing date; annual plans cancel at term end. New users within 30 days qualify for a full refund and hardware return, but must return the device within a week to avoid a $110 restocking fee.

Competition is growing. The Amazfit Helio Strap, Garmin Cirqa, and budget-friendly Fitbit Air offer screenless, subscription-free alternatives. The Fitbit Air provides blood oxygen levels, sleep scores, and 24/7 heart rate for a one-time $100 fee. Whoop's pricing rises after the first year: Whoop One renews at $199, while Peak and Life tiers cost $239 and $359 respectively with the 5.0 Sensor. Whoop recently removed the subscription requirement for Advanced Labs blood testing, though individual tests start at $70.
