James Wade and Nathan Aspinall delivered statement performances in their quarter-finals at the World Grand Prix. Aspinall beat Ryan Joyce 3-0 with a 105.15 average, the fourth-highest in tournament history and best ever in a quarter-final. Wade dropped only one leg in a 3-0 win over world No.2 Gian van Veen, lasting barely 20 minutes. Sky Sports' Wayne Mardle called Wade's display "devastating" and "World Class." Three-time world champion John Part said Wade looks like a winner and a legitimate title contender.
Wade faces Luke Humphries in the semi-finals. Humphries beat Neils Zonneveld 3-0 but averaged only 85.91 and admitted disappointment, saying he felt like the second-best player. He warned if he doesn't improve, he won't be there Sunday. Aspinall faces Gerwyn Price, who came from two sets down to beat Jonny Clayton, surviving three match darts. Aspinall feels bullish ahead of a repeat of the 2022 semi-final.
