Formula 1 chief Stefano Domenicali has dismissed speculation that four-time champion Max Verstappen will retire, despite the Dutchman's recent criticism of the sport's radical 2026 car regulations. Verstappen, who won four consecutive titles from 2021-2024, had questioned whether he would continue if the new cars weren't 'fun' to drive.

Speaking after talks with Verstappen at the Bahrain pre-season test, Domenicali stated: 'I am confident Max will be part of Formula 1's future.' He emphasized the need to listen to Verstappen's concerns about the 2026 regulations, which introduce a complete overhaul of the power units and chassis, calling the criticism 'normal' in F1's evolution. Domenicali's strong relationship with Verstappen, built over years, underpins his certainty about the driver's long-term commitment.
