Brighton were held to a goalless draw by Tromso in the first leg of their Conference League play-off at the Arctic Lorange Arena.

The Seagulls, playing their first competitive match of the season, struggled against a resolute Norwegian side who are midway through their domestic campaign. Despite creating several chances, Brighton could not break the deadlock.

Key moments included brilliant saves from both goalkeepers. Tromso's Haugaard denied Brighton's Rutter and Osman, while Verbruggen kept the hosts at bay from Heine Larsen's close-range effort.

Brighton will host the second leg at the Amex Stadium next Thursday, knowing victory in that match will be sufficient to progress to the main draw of the competition.

In between fixtures, Brighton face their opening Premier League game of the 2026/27 season against Aston Villa at home on Sunday, with a 2pm kick-off broadcast live on Sky Sports.
