Tottenham has entered talks with Brighton over centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke, though reports indicate an opening bid has been rejected. The Dutch defender has one year left on his contract at Brighton and worked under current Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi at the south coast club. Brighton signed Van Hecke from NAC Breda for £1.8m in 2020.

Spurs are also considering making an offer for Manchester City's winger Savinho, having been interested since last summer. No direct approach has been made to City yet, but one could come in the next few days. Tottenham additionally wants a central midfielder who can pass from deep, with Hayden Hackney of Middlesbrough among their targets.

De Zerbi's transfer strategy is clear: he wants centre-backs who excel with the ball. Senesi and Van Hecke are being targeted as two of the Premier League's best at bypassing defenders through passing. If both arrive, they would represent significant upgrades over current Tottenham centre-halves in terms of passing ability.
