SunRisers Leeds defeated Birmingham Phoenix by 45 runs in The Hundred men's competition, eliminating Phoenix from the tournament. The win moved SunRisers up to second place in the table thanks to a big net run rate swing.

SunRisers' opening partnership of Mitchell Marsh and Ryan Rickelton fired again, racing to 52 off 32 balls. Rickelton hit 65 off 37 before being run out. Harry Brook flickered briefly before falling to Usman Tariq, the only Phoenix bowler to impress. Two sixes from the last three balls lifted the visitors to a competitive total.

Any doubts about defending the target were soon allayed as Brydon Carse (3-17) and Matthew Potts (3-22) ripped through the Phoenix top order. Carse removed Mitchell Owen and Rehan Ahmed, while Potts snared Will Smeed. Joe Clarke and Sean Dickson delayed the inevitable, and Jordan Thompson hit late sixes, but Phoenix finished 45 short. England quicks Carse and Potts were economical, and leggie Abrar Ahmed went at less than a run a ball.

Meerkat Match Hero Ryan Rickelton said: "It's getting tight at the top, so it was nice to get a big net run rate win here. The bowlers are really carrying us through at the moment."
