Mitchell Marsh and Dan Lawrence struck brutal half-centuries as Sun Risers Leeds overcame Southern Brave in a tight encounter at Headingley to register their first win of the competition. Opener Marsh smashed six sixes and four fours in a knock of 69 off 34 balls before Lawrence's unbeaten 51* off 25 took the hosts to 187-5.

Sunrisers captain Zak Crawley fell for a golden duck as England spinner Adil Rashid claimed three wickets, including Marsh and Ryan Rickelton (37). Harry Brook was bowled for three by Marcus Stoinis before Lawrence's efforts and a rapid 21 from Tom Alsop helped the Sun Risers finish strongly.

In the women's match, Southern Brave made it two wins from two with a five-wicket success over Sun Risers Leeds, as Jemimah Rodrigues made an unbeaten 42. Meanwhile, Welsh Fire bounced back from their opener defeat to sweep aside MI London by 60 runs at Sophia Gardens, with Sophie Devine (52) and Georgia Wareham (43) headlining a powerful display.
