Sunderland are exploring a potential late deal for Manchester City winger Jack Grealish. The Black Cats are keen on a loan for the 30-year-old, who has entered the final year of his contract. However, a permanent deal is also under consideration as Sunderland look to strengthen in wide areas. They are also trying to sign Igor Paixao from Marseille.

Grealish spent last season on loan at Everton and they remain interested in the player. He has been used as a substitute in City's Community Shield defeat to Arsenal and their Premier League opener against Bournemouth. City no longer have Savio or Omar Marmoush available for selection after agreeing to sell the pair to Tottenham. Savio has completed his move while Marmoush is in the process of doing so.

This has left City short on options in wide forward areas for the time being, and has been exacerbated by a short-term calf injury for Jeremy Doku, which will keep him out for two to three weeks. City are set to sign 22-year-old Brazilian Allan from Palmeiras as a replacement for Savio, but he is yet to complete his move. They are also interested in Cody Gakpo at Liverpool as they consider further additions.

Sunderland are also attempting to sign Igor Paixao from Marseille. Regis Le Bris' side have firm interest in the player and submitted a bid for the Brazilian earlier this week. Leeds tried to sign Paixao last summer before he chose to join Marseille. Talks continue to take place. Marseille need to raise funds and Sunderland's priority is to sign a winger.
