Sullivan under investigation after West Ham exit

Former West Ham chair David Sullivan resigned on Saturday amid accusations from women who had modeled for the Daily and Sunday Sport titles. The claims allege improper conduct linked to his adult‑industry empire, which he flatly denies, calling the allegations sensationalised. His departure ends a 16‑year tenure on the club’s board.

A joint probe by the BBC and The Times now scrutinises the accusations, focusing on whether any breach of the Independent Football Regulator’s owners’ code occurred. The regulator labelled the claims “extremely serious” and said it will use statutory powers to request information on Sullivan’s suitability under its Owners, Directors and Senior Executives regime.

West Ham’s relegation last month adds pressure on the club to demonstrate robust governance. While the regulator refrains from further comment, the investigation could force the club to address lingering reputational damage and ensure compliance with ownership standards.
