Killian Phillips scored in each half to give St Mirren a 2-0 opening‑weekend win at Mumford Park in the Scottish Premiership. Saints struggled last season, only avoiding relegation via a play‑off against Partick. They had beaten Falkirk twice in 2025/26, and the venue proved a hunting ground again.

Craig McLeish’s side were favourites to finish bottom and should have won more comfortably. Multiple chances were missed and a scare came when Bairns substitute Ben Parkinson appeared to level after 71lder, but VAR chalkված the goal off and Phillips completed his double.
