Somerset moved to within two points of County Championship Division One leaders Nottinghamshire with an eight-wicket victory over Essex at home. Tom Lammonby finished 39 not out as the home side chased down a target of 102 in 19.2 overs on day four. Jack Leach took 5-81 to finish with nine wickets in the game.

Leicestershire secured only their second win of the season, beating Glamorgan by 42 runs. Kiran Carlson looked set to haul Glamorgan to victory with a promising 99 before falling to Ajaz Patel. Hampshire remained bottom of the table after losing by 39 runs to Yorkshire.

In Division Two, Northamptonshire beat Lancashire by 316 runs at Old Trafford, with Ricardo Vasconcelos scoring a second-innings century. Kent kept up the pressure on leaders Durham as they won by 46 runs against Middlesex to move into second place. Worcestershire recorded a comfortable eight-wicket win over bottom side Gloucestershire, assisted by Jake Libby's 107 not out.
