Angel Yin considered skipping the Solheim Cup due to illness, but captain Angela Stanford's support changed her mind. Yin, 27, hasn't completed a 72-hole tournament since May and missed a cut by 13 shots in her last LPGA event in June due to an undisclosed stomach issue. She has lost over two-and-a-half stone in weight.

In a pre-tournament press conference, Yin admitted she doubted her participation, saying, "Yes, of course. I know it's crazy that I'm here because I played a week before in Boston and it obviously wasn't great." She emphasized her commitment to the team: "I wanted to be honest, because I would never jeopardise America."

Yin revealed that she had honest talks with herself, her team, and captain Stanford. She asked her caddie to inquire if Stanford wanted her on the team, and Stanford's positive response solidified her decision. "If she had said no, I wouldn't be here. But she said yes," Yin explained.

Stanford, who insisted Yin will feature for Team USA, has been a crucial pillar of support. Yin's extra practice on Wednesday, including playing the front nine alone, reflects her determination. Despite the challenges, Yin remains optimistic: "I'm feeling great. Every day it's getting better." The 20th Solheim Cup begins at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands.
