Scott Hastings, the Scottish rugby great and former British and Irish Lions centre, has died at age 61. Hastings won 65 caps during an 11-year Test career that began in 1986 and was part of the most recent Scotland team to win the Grand Slam in 1990.

The family confirmed Hastings died due to complications from cancer treatment on May 17. Diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2022, his son Corey and daughter Kerry-Anne released a statement saying he passed away peacefully surrounded by family, which coincided with his late wife Jenny's birthday.

Hastings leaves behind a significant rugby legacy as the younger brother of fellow Scotland international and British & Irish Lion Gavin Hastings. The family requested privacy while they process the loss and plans to share information celebrating his incredible life in due course.
