Cameron Menzies called his 10-7 upset over world No. 2 Luke Humphries "the biggest moment of my darts career" at the World Matchplay Darts. The Scot hit a dramatic Big Fish checkout at Winter Gardens for his first-ever win at the venue, completing a remarkable turnaround just eight months after hand surgery from punching a table during a World Championship loss.

Menzies admitted he didn't expect to qualify after a terrible start to 2026 that included his uncle's death. "I'm in a better place mentally and physically. I'm enjoying darts again," he said. Wayne Mardle praised Menzies' composure: "He knows he can handle anything now."

The tournament continues July 18-26 with a 32-player field. Defending champion Luke Littler faces Nathan Aspinall, while Stephen Bunting meets Josh Rock. Michael van Gerwen plays Dirk van Duijvenbode, and Gary Anderson (109.96 average) takes on Jonny Clayton.
