Cleveland Browns coach Todd Monken said rookie quarterback Taylen Green could have a package of plays on game day to utilize his athleticism. Monken noted that "three's a lot" when asked about making Green, Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders active on game days. Green, a sixth-round pick, secured the QB3 spot after Dillon Gabriel's injury.

Monken named Watson the starter on Aug. 24, with Sanders as backup, while Green and Sanders split practice reps as scout-team QBs. Green, who ran a 4.36-second 40-yard dash at the combine—the fastest QB time since 2003—has drawn speculation about position changes, though both he and the Browns remain focused on developing him as a quarterback. In his preseason debut against the Patriots, Green completed 5 of 7 passes for 27 yards and rushed for 66 yards.

Monken praised Green as a "tremendous athlete that is highly intelligent" but emphasized there's "a lot to work with". He also stated Gabriel's strong preseason performance wouldn't alter his starting QB plans.
