Chelsea has secured the signing of Manchester United forward Melvine Malard for a fee of £750,000. The France international has committed to a four-year contract with the Blues, reuniting with manager Sonia Bompastor, with whom she previously won the Champions League at OL Lyonnes in 2022.

Last season, Malard scored six goals in the Women's Super League (WSL) and four in the Champions League. She had one year remaining on her contract at Manchester United. Despite interest from two NWSL clubs and other European teams, Malard expressed her excitement about joining Chelsea.

"I have a plan for my life and my career, and Chelsea were a part of that plan," Malard stated. "It is a great club and a big club so I am very excited to get started. I have always lost when playing against Chelsea, so I know the team have good players." She also highlighted her long-standing relationship with Bompastor, dating back to when she was 14 years old, and her anticipation of playing at Stamford Bridge.
