Man Utd have completed the signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea for £50m (£48m guaranteed + £2m add-ons), with Chelsea retaining a 10% sell-on clause. The 22-year-old Brazil international becomes the first permanent signing under Michael Carrick as head coach at Old Trafford.

Santos, who joined Chelsea from Vasco da Gama in 2023 and spent loans at Nottingham Forest and Strasbourg, featured in 43 matches last season, scoring three goals and providing four assists. He cited the chance to learn from Carrick as a key factor: "he is the perfect coach to help me take the next step." Director of football Jason Wilcox praised his technical qualities and ability to impact both ends.

The move coincides with United advancing talks for Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for £36m, while not ruling out a return for Ederson. Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth suggests United may target two or three midfielders this window, with Casemiro departing and Manuel Ugarte sidelined by a serious knee injury. Other targets include Alex Scott, Sander Berge, and Aurelien Tchouameni.
