Matt Short's unbeaten half-century propelled Welsh Fire to a six-wicket victory over Southern Brave, leveling them on 16 points at the top of The Hundred table. Opting to bowl, Fire's bowlers, led by Chris Woakes and Sam Cook, quickly reduced Brave to 2-2. Despite Marcus Stoinis's half-century, Brave posted their lowest-ever Hundred total of 115-8.

Chasing the modest target, Short anchored the innings, supported by Joe Root and Tom Kohler-Cadmore. Short reached his fifty off 37 balls, showcasing inventive shots like the scoop and ramp. Despite early pressure from Jofra Archer, Short guided Fire home with two balls to spare.

"It was nice to bat second and get a bit of dew and skid off the wicket," Short commented. While Welsh Fire are level on points, they have a negative net run rate, contrasting with Trent Rockets' strong position. Southern Brave now faces a challenge to advance after their fourth defeat in six games.
