The coroner has again postponed the inquest into the death of Maddy Cusack until December 7, after requesting further questioning of two witnesses who testified earlier and potentially adding another. The nine‑day proceeding, which began on June 29, has heard from the former club manager Jonathan Morgan, club executive Carl Shieber, and Sophie Cartwright KC.

Witnesses have detailed internal club discussions, including Shieber’s claim that Morgan was transparent about his relationship with Cusack, whom he had coached at Leicester. Morgan’s past remarks—calling Cusack “bottom‑heavy” and “psycho” in different contexts—have resurfaced, prompting the club’s former general manager Zoe Johnson to label him a “d***” in a single incident. The inquest also noted that the club’s senior staff did not inform junior players about Morgan’s appointment.

The repeated adjournments keep the investigation in limbo, extending uncertainty for the club’s leadership and its supporters. The delay foregrounds the scrutiny of hiring practices and could pressure Sheffield United to reevaluate its internal vetting processes before the next season.
