Star-studded pairing Shane Lowry and Brooks Koepka missed the cut at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans by one shot, finishing nine under par after 36 holes. The cut mark sat at 10 under, ending the five-time major winner's hopes of a strong finish in this PGA Tour team event. Lowry won this event two years ago alongside Rory McIlroy, who is absent this year.

Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick surged into contention with the lowest round of the day, a seven-under 65 in Friday's foursomes format. The brothers climbed to 15 under, just one stroke behind leaders Alex Smalley and Hayden Springer at 16 under. Matt Fitzpatrick has been in exceptional form, climbing to world No. 3 after winning the Valspar Championship and last week's RBC Heritage, where he beat world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler in a play-off.

The Sheffield-born duo entered last year's event but missed the cut by two strokes. Victory this week would cap a remarkable few months for the family, with Alex also claiming his maiden DP World Tour title at the Hero Indian Open in March. The winning team will share approximately $1.372m from the $9.5m prize purse.
