Jeremy Jacquet starred on his Liverpool debut as the Reds secured a confidence-boosting 2-0 pre-season friendly win over Como at Anfield.

The 21-year-old defender, signed from Rennes in February, scored the second goal just before halftime to double the lead after Cody Gakpo opened the scoring. Jacquet was withdrawn at the break, replaced by new arrival Ronald Araujo.

Liverpool's tempo dropped in the second half, allowing Como more possession, but the Reds maintained their defensive solidity. Ryan Gravenberch struck the crossbar late, while Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz struggled to make their mark.

Head coach Andoni Iraola praised his team's attitude and noted the importance of finishing with a clean sheet. He highlighted Jacquet's strong performance alongside Jeremie Frimpong, who played 90 minutes at right-back. The victory provides momentum ahead of Liverpool's opening match against Newcastle next Sunday.
