Liverpool secured a 1-0 win over Wrexham at Yankee Stadium, giving new manager Andoni Iraola back-to-back pre-season victories ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. The Reds, who beat Sunderland in Nashville, faced a Wrexham side that had previously defeated both Manchester United and Leeds in recent weeks.

Stand-in captain Dominik Szoboszlai filled in at centre-back following Joe Gomez's injury and was involved in Liverpool's best first-half chance, picking out Harvey Elliott to set up Josh Abe, whose shot was saved by former Reds goalkeeper Danny Ward. Rio Ngumoha, introduced at half-time, proved the difference-maker, driving at the Wrexham defence before his deflected effort looped into the net 15 minutes from time. Kieffer Moore wasted a late chance for Wrexham, but Liverpool held on for their second win in the United States.

Iraola acknowledged his side still isn't showing his tactical identity but noted improved collective play. The squad travels to Chicago for Sunday's match against Leeds, where Florian Wirtz, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexander Isak, and new signing Jeremy Jacquet are expected to make their first pre-season appearances.
