Justin Langer says he hasn't heard from the ECB about the vacant England Test head coach role but hinted at interest. Speaking on the *Stick to Cricket* podcast, the former Australia head coach called the job one of the three biggest in cricket alongside India and England, saying "It's a career and everyone looks at all opportunities."

Brendon McCullum was removed earlier this month after seven defeats in nine Tests, while early favourite Andy Flower declined due to IPL and Hundred commitments. The Telegraph reports Langer isn't shortlisted, and he insists: "I haven't heard from anyone. It's all paper talk, all hypothetical."

Langer, who earned 105 Test caps (1993-2007) and leads Manchester Super Giants in The Hundred, stressed Test cricket's importance. He recorded 15 wins, 11 losses and 5 draws as Australia coach, retaining the Ashes in 2019 and winning 4-0 in 2021-22 before resigning acrimoniously in February 2022 amid player disputes.

McCullum remains white-ball coach, meaning a split role. Langer prefers a single head coach but acknowledged split roles can work "if you have the right people... they've got to fit like a glove" alongside director Rob Key.
