Alison Lee and Ruoning Yin share the US Women's Open lead at 4-under 138 after Friday's second round at Riviera Country Club. World No. 1 Nelly Korda surged into contention with the day's best score of 67, moving to 2-under. The historic course proved unforgiving as only two players managed bogey-free rounds, with Yin the only player to shoot two sub-70 rounds.

The Los Angeles native Lee, playing in her backyard, posted consecutive rounds under par with back-to-back birdies before the turn. The new mother's strong play continues a solid season that includes a third-place finish at the Mizuho Americas Open. Lee has yet to win on the LPGA Tour despite being a two-time Solheim Cup participant.

Several notable players missed the cut, including seven-months-pregnant Madelene Sagstrom and Ireland's Leona Maguire. England's Charley Hull sits at three-over after a bogey on 18 in round two, while Lottie Woad just survived. The tournament continues Saturday with Lee and Yin searching for their first major championship in what promises to be a tense final round.
