Jonathan Trott will coach the England Lions this winter, replacing Andrew Flintoff, who stepped down in August. Trott, 45, led the side's recent T20 series win over Sri Lanka and has agreed to stay for six months.

He will oversee a white-ball tour of the West Indies starting October 27, a trip to South Africa until December 23, and a Sri Lanka leg from February to March. Trott previously coached Afghanistan to a T20 World Cup semi-final in 2024 and had a consultancy stint with Ireland.

"I'm delighted to be back working in the England set-up," Trott said. "Having played for the Lions myself, I know how valuable the experience can be."

Ed Barney, ECB men's performance director, called Trott "an outstanding coach with a proven record." Trott averaged 44.08 in 52 Tests and 51.25 in 68 ODIs for England between 2009 and 2015.
