Samsung Health Update Enhances Sleep Coaching and Running Coach

Samsung Health has updated its Sleep Coaching feature, reducing the required data from a full week to just three days of sleep data from the past two weeks. During setup, users complete a survey on sleep regularity, interruptions, alcohol and caffeine intake, and sleep satisfaction. Based on this input and sleep data, the app assigns a Sleep Animal and creates a personalized four- to eight-week coaching program that adapts weekly recommendations as sleep patterns change. Daily habit checklists and tips are provided, such as avoiding screens before bed or skipping late caffeine. A new pentagon-shaped Sleep Balance graph combines sleep time, regularity, awake time, satisfaction, and Energy Score into one view. Morning insight messages review the prior night and feed into weekly and final reports. Sleep Coaching requires Samsung Health v6.24 or newer on a Galaxy phone with Android 11 or later, paired with a Galaxy Watch4 series or newer, Galaxy Fit3 or newer, or Galaxy Ring.

Running Coach is also upgraded, expanding training tiers from 10 to 12 levels to better serve intermediate and advanced runners. Plans are still based on a 12-minute running test or past running data. Users can now export workouts into share-ready templates for social media and import favorite Strava Routes for running, trail running, and cycling via a partnership with Strava. Running Coach requires Samsung Health v6.30.2 or newer on an Android 10 or later phone, a Samsung account, and a Galaxy Watch8 series or newer watch. The new features will roll out gradually via Samsung Health app updates this month, with availability and timing varying by market and model.
