Gary Neville has urged Michael Carrick to stop defending Manchester United players after their lacklustre 1-1 draw at Fulham. On Sky Sports co-commentary, Neville described United's start to the second half at Craven Cottage as "the worst 15 minutes I have ever seen Manchester United play." In that period, Lisandro Martinez scored an own goal before Matheus Cunha's late deflected strike salvaged a point. The draw followed defeats to Manchester City and Brighton in the Carabao Cup.

Neville criticised United's lack of urgency and energy, saying: "I've never seen a Man Utd team walk out of possession as much as that." He added that Carrick "has got to stop defending them" and called the first 60 minutes "a genuine disgrace" without the ball. Neville warned that while there is no panic yet, continued performances like this will put Carrick "in a lot of trouble."

Neville also highlighted personnel issues, noting attacking players like Mbeumo and Rashford stay too high and wide, while midfielders Tielmans and Mainoo are "one-paced." He suggested the international break has come at a good time for a rebalance.
