Manchester City have secured midfielder Phil Foden on a four-year contract, extending his stay until 2030 with an optional extra year. The 25‑year‑old, a product of the club’s academy, is entering the final year of his current deal and will now sign on for what could be the prime of his career, and underscores the club’s commitment to home‑grown talent.

Foden arrived at senior level in 2017, has since added six Premier League crowns, a Champions League triumph, two FA Cups and five Carabao Cups to his résumé. This season he logged 46 appearances, netting ten goals and delivering five assists, but his output has dipped since the 2023/24 campaign that earned him Player of the Season and PFA Players' Player of the Year.

Despite the fresh deal, Foden’s role has shrunk; Pep Guardiola has rotated him out of the regular starting XI and England manager Gareth Southgate has hinted his World Cup prospects are uncertain after a muted performance in the last international break. The contract signals the club’s belief he can rediscover top form and remain a cornerstone of their midfield.
