Emma Raducanu's Australian Open Exit Sparks Re-evaluation

Emma Raducanu suffered a straight-sets defeat to Anastasia Potapova in the Australian Open second round. The British No. 1 admitted she looked 'lost' on court and is now ready to reassess her game. This early exit follows a disrupted pre-season due to a foot injury.

Her coach, Francisco Roig, was hired last summer, but Raducanu feels a misalignment between her current play and her desired style. After a slow start to the season, including a loss at the United Cup, she acknowledged the need for fundamental changes to find consistency, a challenge since her 2021 US Open win.

Captain Anne Keothavong suggested it was 'back to the drawing board' for Raducanu, noting the difficult day conditions in Melbourne. The 23-year-old will now take time to review her performance before her next scheduled event, the Transylvania Open in Romania, beginning February 1.
