Novak Djokovic has pulled out of the Monte-Carlo Masters, the clay-court event where he won titles in 2013 and 2015, citing a right shoulder injury. The withdrawal comes after the two-time champion also exited the Miami Open for the same issue. The 38-year-old Serb, who last played at Indian Wells where he lost to Jack Draper in the round of 16, is now focused on recovery ahead of the Mutua Madrid Open starting April 22. World No 7 Taylor Fritz and American Ben Shelton also withdrew from Monte-Carlo, while Frenchmen Gael Monfils and Moise Kouame received wild cards, including Kouame's debut appearance.

The tournament runs from April 5-12, with Carlos Alcaraz defending his title against Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev.
