Derek McInnes Named Rangers Manager on Three-Year Deal

Rangers have appointed Derek McInnes as their new manager on a three-year contract, luring him from Hearts where he nearly delivered the title last season. The 54-year-old led Hearts to second place in the Scottish Premiership, pushing Celtic to the final day before falling agonizingly short.

McInnes replaces Danny Röhl, who departed for RB Salzburg after less than eight months at Ibrox. The former Rangers player (1995-2000) previously turned down the manager's job while at Aberdeen, but now takes charge with assistants Alan Archibald, Paul Sheerin and Craig Clark joining him.

Chairman Andrew Cavenagh praised McInnes's track record, noting his deep knowledge of Scottish football and proven ability to compete against better-funded rivals. Rangers have managed just one league title since 2011, creating significant pressure for immediate success.

The club has already begun rebuilding, securing Scotland international Lawrence Shankland from Hearts on a free transfer after his 20-goal season. With substantial transfer funds expected, McInnes faces a crucial summer to overhaul the squad and restore Rangers to trophy contention.
