Chelsea has finalized a record-breaking transfer, signing forward Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for £117 million. Rogers has committed to a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge, making him the most expensive British player ever, surpassing the previous record set by Elliot Anderson.

"I'm so excited," stated Rogers. "For me, Chelsea are the biggest club in London and a club I've always admired since I was a kid. I'm really excited about the project with the new manager, the players we've got and where the club is heading."

Arsenal had also pursued Rogers but were unwilling to meet Chelsea's valuation. The 23-year-old forward moves from Champions League football with Villa to join Xabi Alonso's side, which will not participate in European competition in the 2026/27 season. Former Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris described the signing as "great" and "a huge signing," highlighting Rogers' versatility and talent.
