Ben Duckett Withdraws from IPL to Focus on England Form After Scandal-Fueled Slump

Ben Duckett has pulled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to concentrate on reviving his England career following a disastrous winter. The left-hander, once hailed as a top all-format opener, saw his form plummet last summer, scoring just one fifty-plus knock in 16 innings leading into the winter. His struggles culminated in a top score of 42 in the Ashes, compounded by being filmed and seemingly drunk during a mid-series break in Noosa, Australia.

This incident, along with being an unused squad member during England's T20 World Cup campaign, has put his England place under intense scrutiny. Duckett's withdrawal means he could be ineligible for the IPL again until 2029 and misses a £200,000 payday. He intends to return to Nottinghamshire to work with head coach Peter Moores and fitness coach Peter Sims, aiming to be ready for England's first Test against New Zealand starting June 4.

Duckett admitted regret over the Noosa incident and expressed a desire to look back on this decision as pivotal for his career.
