Bacio blitzed his rivals from the front to give trainer Wesley Ward his first victory in the Coolmore City Of Troy Nunthorpe Stakes at York.

The 3/1 favourite, ridden by Juan Hernandez, had most rivals struggling from halfway and passed the post a length and a quarter clear of Starlust.

Arapaho Gold stretched his unbeaten record to four with victory in the Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Gimcrack Stakes, defeating Final Objective by three-quarters of a length.

Hernandez had to rush from York to catch a 6.30pm flight to America from Heathrow, taking a helicopter from the Knavesmire to make it on time.

Michael Dods praised his Gimcrack winner, saying: "He's just some horse isn't he?"
