Almeraq broke a long‑time slump to win the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot. The four‑year‑old, ridden by Ryan Moore, surged through a blanket finish and finished ahead of the 15/8 favourite Joliestar and the Japanese contender Satono Reve. The victory follows a fall at York last summer that threatened the horse’s career.

Almeraq entered the race as a 25/1 outsider, a long‑shot that stunned the field. The Shadwell‑owned runner battled a global field that included riders from Japan, Australia, France and Ireland. With a late burst in the final furlong, the colt outpaced rivals and claimed the Group One prize for the owners and trainer and fans.

Trainer William Haggas marked the win as his fourth of the week, noting the horse’s resilience after a severe fall that left jockey Jim Crowley sidelined. Haggas praised Crowley’s determination, saying the jockey’s fight to return to top class mirrors the horse’s own comeback. The result boosts Shadwell’s reputation on the global stage for owners.

Giavellotto, the Hong Kong Vase hero for Marco Botti, secured the Hardwicke Stakes by a short head over Kalpana. The 9/1 outsider edged the favourite in a dramatic finish that underscored Oisin Murphy’s skill. Botti lauded the horse’s growing speed and expressed confidence in a fresh campaign back in Hong Kong for the owners and fans.
