England’s No 8 Alex Matthews has been ruled out of the final two Six Nations fixtures after a shoulder injury forced shoulder surgery this week. The double World Cup winner missed the 33‑12 win over Ireland and will miss Saturday’s clash with Italy in Parma and the likely title‑decider against France in Bordeaux. His absence dents the forward pack but the side remains deep.

Lilli Ives Campion and Sadia Kabeya remain in rehab, while Hannah Botterman and Morwenna Talling stay in treatment. Pregnancy has also sidelined Zoe Stratford, Abbie Ward, Lark Atkin‑Davies and Rosie Galligan. Despite the absences, the Red Roses thrashed Wales 62‑24 in round three, marking a 36th consecutive victory.

Ellie Kildunne returns on the left wing, Emma Sing at full‑back and Mia Venner on the right. Haidee Head debuts from the bench, with Bristol pair Delaney Burns and Demelza Short staying in the back row. John Mitchell lauded the team’s momentum and demanded pressure and speed, leaving England firmly in the championship race.
