What is OmegaBall? The Chaos of 3-Sided Soccer

Omega Ball is a high-octane variation of association football that pits three teams against each other simultaneously on a circular pitch. Created by Anthony Dittmann, the sport aims to increase excitement by removing the offside rule and introducing a non-linear, three-way competitive dynamic.

Each game features teams of five players competing on a 60-yard diameter round field. Teams must protect one goal while attempting to score in the other two. The game features unique mechanics like "vulture goals" and "Delta Kicks," resulting in a fast-paced spectacle where play resumes within five seconds of a goal.

Since its inception in Irvine, California, in 2020, the sport has gained significant momentum. What began as an experiment during the COVID-19 pandemic has evolved into a global phenomenon with matches spanning Europe, Africa, and Asia.
