Udinese won the inaugural Friuli Venezia Giulia Cup, defeating Barcelona 1-0 with a last-minute goal from Vakoun Issouf Bayo. The tournament featured an irregular format with three 45-minute matches played back-to-back at Bluenergy Stadium in Udine, Italy. Udinese opened the tournament with a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, thanks to a goal from Oumar Solet. Barcelona then edged past Forest in stoppage time via a Raphinha penalty, setting up a final between Udinese and Barça. Despite fielding an inexperienced squad with many World Cup winners still on holiday, Barcelona dominated possession but lacked cutting edge. Udinese capitalized on the counter-attack, with Issouf Bayo scoring the decisive goal in the final minute. The win marks a successful preseason outing for the Italian side, who now turn their attention to the Coppa Italia against Padova. Barcelona will continue their preseason preparations with matches against Basel and Egyptian side Al Ahly in the Joan Gamper Trophy.

Nottingham Forest also participated in the triangular tournament, losing both their matches. Forest's upcoming fixtures include games against Bayer Leverkusen and Brest before their Premier League campaign begins against Leeds United.
