Jose Mourinho has addressed the controversy between former player Gianluca Prestianni and Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior, insisting that Prestianni was his player and that he stands firmly behind him.

Prestianni was accused of racially abusing Vinícius during a Champions League match between Benfica and Real Madrid last season. While initially stating that Prestianni was innocent until proven guilty, Mourinho confirmed that the situation was over when the Argentine received a six-match ban for anti-gay conduct.

Returning to Real Madrid for his second stint, Mourinho emphasized that Vinícius knows whose side he is on. "The answer is very simple: Prestianni was my player... If Prestianni is my player, 20 players can come at me and I'm still with Prestianni. End of story."

Mourinho also criticized how Vinícius is treated by referees and fans, stating that people need to learn how to behave toward him. He highlighted the inconsistency in officiating, saying that penalties should be awarded based on the foul, not the player. "Vinícius is a player like everyone else," he added, calling for fair treatment and respect for one of the world's best players.
