Real Madrid has secured the top spot in the latest Deloitte Football Money League, generating a record €1.2 billion ($1.4 billion) in revenue. This achievement comes as the top 20 teams combined to clear €12.4 billion ($14.5 billion), marking an 11 percent increase in total revenue compared to the previous season. Madrid's dominance underscores the growing financial might of Europe's top football clubs.

Manchester United's decline to eighth place reflects a significant shift in the financial rankings. Once a blueprint for commercial success, United's absence from the Champions League in 2024-25 has impacted their broadcast revenue, dropping from €258 million to €206 million. This downturn, combined with their lack of European competition this season, has led to a substantial decrease in matchday revenue.

Liverpool, now the highest-earning English club, occupies fifth place, while Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain round out the top five. The rise of Bundesliga's Stuttgart and Portuguese club Benfica into the top 20, with revenues of €296.3 million and €283.4 million respectively, indicates a broadening of the financial elite in European football.

Tim Bridge, Deloitte's Sports Business Group Leader, notes that clubs with strong brands have opportunities to expand their reach and become year-round fan engagement platforms. As United begins this journey, the club faces both challenges and opportunities to regain its financial prowess.
