Paris Saint‑Germain have completed the signing of World Cup winner Ferran Torres from Barcelona for a total package of around €55 million ($63.4m). The 26‑year‑old, who scored the winning goal in Spain’s World Cup final victory over Argentina, had previously told Barça he wanted to join PSG and was granted permission to miss training while the deal progressed.

Former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique, now at the helm of PSG, previously worked with Torres on the Spanish national team. Barcelona were willing to let him leave as his contract expires next summer, and Torres has repeatedly hinted that he prefers the French club as his next destination.

The move fills a striker need for PSG, which lost Gonçalo Ramos to AC Milan and saw Randal Kolo Muani join Juventus. Torres netted 21 goals in 49 appearances for Barça last season and has expressed his desire for the club to “show me some love” if they wanted him to stay. His departure may accelerate Barcelona’s pursuit of other targets such as Julián Álvarez.
