Torres' Future at Barcelona Uncertain After US Tour

The uncertainty surrounding Torres' future has intensified after a promotional tour in the US where he spoke about his next season. He said, “I have a contract with Barcelona but, in football, you never know.” He added he must train at Barcelona on 12 August and will decide later.

Torres’ comments, especially about interest from Paris St‑Germain, frustrated many supporters who see his openness as a bargaining tactic. He has yet to cement a regular starting spot since joining from Manchester City in 2022 and has 21 goals in 49 appearances.

Barcelona remain unruffled, planning to talk when he returns to training. They want to extend his contract while keeping the wage structure, possibly delaying talks until after the transfer window to avoid affecting Financial Fair Play. Renewing would trigger an almost £7m payment to former club and could keep him as the only senior striker after Lewandowski’s departure.

The club is monitoring potential offers, with PSG—managed by former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique—still interested. Torres may head into negotiations from a strong position, but Barcelona aim to secure a long‑term number nine.
