The ball boy fell backward into an advertising board but quickly got up and appeared unharmed. Neto immediately apologized to the ball boy and later spoke to TNT Sports, explaining that the emotions of the game and his team's losing position led to the moment of frustration. He gave his shirt to the ball boy as a gesture of goodwill.

Despite the altercation, Neto was not punished by the referee for the incident. PSG players comforted the ball boy while others engaged in pushing and shoving with Chelsea players. The Portugal international expressed genuine remorse, stating he is 'really, really sorry' for the incident that marred an otherwise competitive Champions League encounter.
